Nutritional Assessment.

It is clear to me that after 20 years of experience that nutritional therapeutics is a critical component of your Lyme program. Your body uses the nutrients in food and supplements to build antibodies and enhance your immune system; to run your metabolism and energy systems; to create cells for organs like your liver and brain; as well as other important functions. In short, optimal nutrition can aid the body in healing itself.

As a Lyme patient, some of the key nutritional questions you need to answer are:

  • What nutrients are being depleted by my prescription and over-the-counter medications?
  • Are there any drug-nutrient interactions that I need to know about?
  • Where can I get pharmaceutical-grade supplements at a reasonable price?
  • How is my gastrointestinal tract affected by my medications and the Lyme? How can I protect and strengthen it?
  • How can I best support my liver as it detoxifies my body of the Lyme and it helps to breakdown prescription medications?
  • Why am I gaining or losing weight and how can I nutritionally handle these changes?
  • How can I eliminate or avoid yeast overgrowth which may worsen my symptoms?
  • Are food allergies contributing to my ill health?
  • How can I strengthen my immune system to help fight the Lyme?
  • What can I do to feel more energetic?

We have found that Lyme patients who practice healthy eating and lifestyle habits and supplement their diet with vitamins and minerals are better able to cope with their Lyme symptoms and experience fewer relapses.
