Carolyn B. Welcome, MS, PA-C

Carolyn WelcomeCarolyn B. Welcome is a graduate of Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. She received her master’s degree from the Physician Assistant Program at Seton Hall University’s School of Graduate Medical Education in South Orange, New Jersey.  Carolyn is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) and licensed by the state of New York. In addition, she has prescribing privileges from both the state of New York and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). She is currently licensed in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).

Carolyn is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA), the New York State Society of Physician Assistants, and Pi Alpha, the National Honor Society for Physician Assistants. She has an arts background and has worked as an actress in regional repertory theatre and as a freelance journalist. Carolyn became interested in a career in medicine after the serious illness of her son in 1995. She has had the privilege of doing internships in a wide variety of specialties including internal medicine, general surgery, psychiatry, radiology, clinical pharmacology, long-term care, endocrinology, pediatrics, critical care, emergency medicine, neurology, obstetrics and gynecology, and outpatient medicine.

Attracted by the opportunity to provide in-depth, individualized care to patients, Carolyn joined Dr. Raxlen’s practice in May of 2007. She will attend ILADS conferences twice a year. Carolyn will be seeing patients for initial interviews and regular office visits, and will work closely with Dr. Raxlen to ensure quality and continuity of care for all Lyme Research Center patients.
